I’m 46, and let me tell you—this glow-up didn’t happen overnight. It’s been years in the making, with a lot of sweat, tears, and finally learning to put myself first. But the beauty of it all? Every lesson, every step, and every challenge has brought me closer to the best version of myself. Let’s talk about why every year adds to your glow-up, especially when you embrace the journey.
Learning to Love Myself
For so many years, I didn’t give myself the grace I deserved. My weight loss journey wasn’t just about numbers on a scale—it was about shedding self-doubt, insecurities, and the belief that I wasn’t enough. Learning to love myself has been the biggest flex, and honestly, it’s still a work in progress.
At 46, I’m finally looking in the mirror and seeing someone worth celebrating. Not because I lost weight, but because I decided to love myself right where I am—flaws, stretch marks, and all. The weight loss? That was just a byproduct of me deciding to care for myself like I care for others.
Redefining Relationships
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that how you let people treat you says a lot about how you feel about yourself. And honey, I’ve raised my standards. I know how well I treat people—I’m thoughtful, kind, and intentional in my relationships.
So now, I require reciprocation. It’s not about being petty or keeping score; it’s about valuing my energy and knowing I deserve the same love and respect I give out. I’ve learned to say “no” without guilt and walk away from one-sided relationships. That’s not selfish—it’s self-preservation.
Every Year Adds to the Glow
Each year has taught me something new. I’ve learned patience with myself, how to embrace change, and how to clap for myself even when no one else is clapping. The older I get, the more I see that every challenge is an opportunity to grow—and glowing up isn’t about perfection; it’s about persistence.
Your glow-up doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. For me, it’s about feeling confident in my skin, walking into rooms with my head held high, and unapologetically choosing joy.
What’s Your Glow-Up Story?
Whether you’re learning to love your body, setting boundaries, or finally going after that dream you’ve been putting off, know this: your glow-up is YOURS. Celebrate it, flaunt it, and let the world know that you’re just getting started.
